If you have found something special in the life of our church and wish to become a member,
we would ask that you first speak to one of our pastors. Potential members can join the church in
one of three ways, Profession of Faith, Reaffirmation of Faith, or by transfer of letter from
another church. Potential members are also asked to attend a New Member Gathering and profess
their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior before being accepted by our congregation.
The New Member Gathering is an experience in faith and caring for those interested in
becoming a member of our church, or becoming more informed about First Presbyterian Church. We generally offer five (5) opportunities throughout the year to attend a three-week
class that covers the history of the Presbyterian denomination and what Presbyterians believe.
Participants share their faith journey, and members and staff speak on church programs and
other topics. The New Member Gathering is normally on Sunday morning during the church school
hour (9:45 to 10:40 am) in Dr. Doak's study.
