The functions of the Communion Committee are to make necessary preparation for each communion service and organize the Session members for serving communion.
See that the elements (bread and wine) are ready for serving well ahead of each communion service.
Make an estimate of the number of participants in advance of the services.
Determine the number of wine glasses and trays needed for each service.
Arrange for enough elders to serve at each service and see that each has a specific and well understood assignment.
Provide any information or training that may be needed by the elders to assure no delays so that the procedures will move smoothly.
See that the table linens are laundered before each communion service Sunday or when communion is served on other occasions.
See that the silver is kept polished and locked securely when not in use.
See that the communion cups are washed and stored properly.
Recommend to the Session when additional equipment should be purchased.
Work with the Pastor and Worship Division on how procedures can be improved.
