We are, by God's grace, a community of believers where people seek the gospel of Jesus Christ, rejoice in worship, and go forth sharing the love of Christ in Athens and the world.
We believe at First Presbyterian Church that worship is at the heart of our Christian journey. Our faith first finds expression in worship as we sing God's praise, as we pray together, as we hear God's word become alive to us, and as we are sent by the Holy Spirit out into the world for ministry and mission.
Worship
Our musical heart at First Presbyterian Church received a new beat. We replaced the organ installed in 1900 with an organ that will hopefully last 100 years. Come experience the new beat and sound that leads us in praise as we worship God.
Missions
Our mission heart beats stronger than ever as we continue to support a new school in Haiti, serve meals out of a new kitchen at Our Daily Bread, provide a van for Project Safe, and supply $6.000.00 a week in mission money around Athens and the world.
In the fast pace university community of Athens, GA First Presbyterian Church sits at the very heart of Athens. Located just three blocks from the University of Georgia and in the center of the vital downtown of Athens, First Presbyterian Church attempts to offer the personal touch of Jesus Christ amid the town and gown atmosphere. Located on historical Hancock Ave. and College Ave., our congregation reaches out in the name of Christ to a world in need. As you browse this wonderful Web site, you will discover opportunities for involvement in fellowship, service, outreach, worship, and education.
"In response to God's grace, the mission of First Presbyterian Church is to create a community where people seek the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, rejoice in worship, and go forth sharing the love of Christ to Athens and the world!"
I believe that the more we put into our congregation, the more we will get out of it.
As we invest more of ourselves in God and one another, we truly become members of God's
family. We then become friends and family with one another rather than simply a sea of
faces in a large and growing congregation. I invite you into active involvement with the
First Presbyterian Church family! Help us to continue to be "The Church with a Heart in
the Heart of Athens."
